Choose the system

3G infill versus 4G no-fill.

Pile height and infill decide the sport, the testing mark, and whether the surface can go indoors.

Fineturf works with world-leading manufacturers. An in-house synthetic team and fully owned plant run in parallel with natural pitch construction. Clients include professional clubs, non-league and community sides, local authorities, universities, schools and academies.

  • Design and specification to governing-body performance and testing criteria
  • Groundworks, construction and installation
  • Resurfacing and upgrading existing facilities
  • Fencing, floodlighting and peripheral landscaping

FIFA Quality is the community and amateur mark; FIFA Quality Pro is professional-level performance. Rugby places more weight on the surface system because of Head Impact Criteria.

Football and rugby
  • Sand filled, hardwearing tufted turf with sand infill
  • Sand dressed, denser yarn, lower pile, less sand, better ball bounce
  • Water based, elite short-pile carpet, irrigated before play and at half-time

Artificial tennis can be used after rainfall, indoors, and in shade where natural grass struggles. Pile height sets the speed of play. Macadam courts are coated in polyurethane paint to LTA and ITF slip ratings. MUGAs are available in macadam (Types 1 to 2), polymeric (Types 3 to 4) and synthetic grass (Type 5, 5a sand-filled, 5b sand-dressed).

  • Porous, most UK 400m tracks; two-layer rubber granule base and EPDM spray coat
  • Sandwich, impermeable, cost-effective for regional competition
  • Solid, multi-layer full-pour polyurethane for elite speed
  • Prefabricated sheet matting for international consistency
  • Cleaning, repair, resurfacing and re-marking over the life of the track

If you are applying for funding or grants for a new synthetic surfaces project, we can point you to current design guidance and potential funding streams. Installed surfaces carry a full manufacturer’s warranty, with aftercare advice and optional maintenance visits.
